Many of the boys involved in the club originally came together in the early spring of 2000 when they attended coaching sessions at Preston College on Saturday mornings, coached by Geoff Flitcroft. A couple of years or so later, at Geoff’s suggestion, some of the Dads got together and entered two 7 a side teams in the Longridge Junior League. In the late Summer of 2004 we drew up a constitution, formed a committee, affiliated to Lancashire FA as Fulwood Juniors FC and entered two teams at the launch of the Preston City Football Development League, one of the first official 9v9 leagues in the country. Two years on we were accepted as a member club of the Central Lancs Junior Football League and in the 2008/09 season we have five teams playing in age groups from Under 11 to Under 15, whilst our younger members continue to play in the Longridge league. Several Managers and Coaches have completed the FA Level 1 coaching certificate and one has completed Level 2. We still train at Preston College and on Archbishop Temple fields on Saturday mornings with almost 100 boys attending our sessions each week.
In 2006 we were awarded the FA Charter Standard, the second club
in Preston to achieve this. We continue to grow with new members and remain a
family club, run by volunteer parents with the emphasis on children playing
football, having fun and enjoying themselves. |
